Mary Adams, I-Capital Advisors, President
Mary Adams is one of the leading U.S. experts on intangible capital and is co-author of Intangible Capital: Putting Knowledge to Work in the 21st Century Organization. Mary is also the author of the Smarter Companies blog and creator of the IC Knowledge Center, a global community of 250 IC thought leaders. She is a co-founder of two consulting businesses, Trek and ICA, that help companies measure, manage and monetize intangible assets. Prior to her consulting career, she spent fifteen years as a high-risk lender at Citicorp and Sanwa Business Credit.
Anil Aggarwal is the Chairman and CEO of TxVia, a technology company that pioneered the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) delivery model for processing prepaid cards and emerging payments. He is also Founder and prior Chairman of the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA), the leading nonprofit, inter-industry trade organization for open loop prepaid cards. Previously, Anil co-founded and served as CEO of Prepaid Media, TSYS Prepaid (subsidiary of TSYS (NYSE: TSS)) and Clarity Payment Solutions (acquired by TSYS).
Chris Battles, Intuit, Head of Product Management
Chis leads the Product Management team for the Intuit Payments Solutions Division in developing a broad portfolio of payments offerings with a key emphasis on mobile. Prior to that, he spent over two years as a Director in the Corporate Strategy & Development team. While working on a wide range of strategy engagements for different Intuit business units (e.g., IFS, CG, SBG, APD), Chris drove different M&A engagements (e.g., acquisition of Mint). He also partnered with various senior executives to drive elements of the leadership agenda (e.g., leadership conferences, ARPC work for an “action science project”).
Prior to his position at Intuit, Chris worked as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco and the US. Prior to BCG, he worked for several years in investment banking, with a focus on real estate finance and fixed income securities.
Jodi Beggs, Economist/Writer, Economists Do It With Models
Jodi Beggs is best described as a freelance economist. She has taught economics at both the undergraduate and graduate level, is an editor for an online learning company, and writes about economics on her web site “Economists Do It With Models” and for various other publications. Her overall goal is to make economics an interesting and accessible topic of discussion both in the classroom and in the media, since it is her view that understanding basic economics is crucial to running an effective household, being a smart voter, and generally not sucking at life. Jodi has a Master’s degree in Economics from Harvard University.
Antonio Benjamin, Citigroup Institutional Clients Group / Global Transaction Services, Global Chief Technology Officer
Antonio Benjamin is the Global Chief Technology Officer for Citigroup / Global Transaction Services / Institutional Clients Group. Benjamin is also the Chairman of Citigroup GTS Research Development Innovation and Learning Centres and is a member of the Citigroup GTS Executive Committee.
Prior to Citigroup, Antonio Benjamin was Partner at Ernst and Young, LLP. After E&Y, Antonio was Managing Director and Partner of the Business and Technology Risk Management group at Computer Sciences Corporation. Paul Blythe, MicroPlace, CFO, Financial & Operations Principle, President of the Due Diligence Committee, and Head of Business Development
Paul Blyth is CFO, Financial & Operations Principle, President of the Due Diligence Committee, and Head of Business Development at MicroPlace Inc, an eBay company. For the last 3+ years he has headed an innovative team of financial services professionals creating retail investments that raise capital for microfinance institutions in some of the world’s poorest regions. MicroPlace was founded on the idea of providing opportunities for a new kind of microfinance investor – the average American. Paul’s leadership has increased the company’s portfolio to include 81 investment opportunities in 62 countries. Its investor base now includes seniors, college students, parents, and professionals aged 18 to 98, meeting the goal of making microfinance an accessible, easy investment opportunity with competitive rates of return. Under Paul’s direction, MicroPlace has achieved many industry 1st’s: he headed the creation of the 1st ever liquid microfinance security, 1st guaranteed retail microfinance security, 1st “green” microfinance security, 1st certified “fair trade” microfinance security and more. Before landing at MicroPlace, Paul spent nearly two decades in finance. Beginning as an auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, London, he migrated into PwC’s management consulting practice. After over 8 years with excel spreadsheets, balanced scorecards, and strategic plans Paul moved into an even sexier industry – the world of pallets! Paul led the commercial finance activities at CHEP Europe (the world’s largest pallet business). After 5 years of blue pallets, Paul was lured into the world of advertising by Mother London – the fashionable, cutting edge agency noted for its development of Bono’s (RED) brand, and its work for Amnesty International. Advertising had its appeal, but Paul was becoming increasingly frustrated by the irony that the “rich” (institutions, governments, and HNWs) could invest in the world’s working poor, but the “average Joe” did not have access to the microfinance asset class. Sitting at his kitchen table with a piece of paper and a pencil, Paul designed a marketplace for the retail investor … during a Google search he stumbled upon a single web page outlining the idea for MicroPlace – he sent the “contact” (Tracey Pettengill Turner) an e-mail … the rest (they say) is history.
Paul has lived and worked in the UK, Canada, France, India, pan-Europe, and the US. Born in London, he spent his childhood in both the UK and rural Canada. He obtained an undergraduate Honours degree in Politics & Business and 3 year Chartered Accountancy qualification in the UK, before moving to the US and completing the Series 7, 27, 63, and 79 qualifications. His wife survived.
Bruce was first introduced to Plastic Jungle in December 2008, joined as President in April 2009, and assumed the CEO position in September 2010.
For more than 20 years, Bruce has been contributing to early and mid stage technology enterprises. His management experience spans the payments, media, education, and alternate energy markets, with a particular emphasis on new business and international markets development.
Prior to Plastic Jungle, Bruce led International and Business and Corporate Development as Senior Vice President at Blackhawk Network, the largest third party distributor of gift cards in the world. Bruce also has served as Chief Executive Officer of Soliloquy Learning and as the President and SVP/General Manager of LearningGate and the educational media division of ZapMe!
Bruce also serves as a director or senior advisor to a number of companies in the payments space, including KargoKard, Radical Payments and Visa. He is a frequent speaker on a variety of new market concepts, including global payments and e-commerce strategies for emerging businesses.
Bruce began his career practicing law with Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati. He graduated in 1984 from Brown University with a B.A. in International Relations. In 1988, he received his law degree from University of Virginia.
Tim Brinkman, ChargeSmart, Chief Executive Officer
Brinkman is responsible for ChargeSmart’s business development, strategic direction and overall growth. With more than 20 years experience in the financial industry, Brinkman has owned companies, led divisions and generated growth opportunities for several companies. Brinkman was a director at Wasserstein Perella and a managing director at C.E. Unterberg Towbin. He also co-founded asset management firm, Indusino Capital Management. Wall Street roles have included Proprietary Trading, Institutional Sales, Senior Management and Advisory Board member.
Brinkman began his career as a CPA with Ernst and Young, a global firm that specializes in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, and continued his tenure at the firm as a management consultant in the financial services industry. Brinkman holds an MBA from The University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Miami University.
Arthur Brock is the Founder and Developer of The MetaCurrency Project. Arthur builds targeted currencies that are at the core of the emerging post-industrial economy. He has created more than 100 designs for multi-currency systems and his software company has built and deployed dozens of those systems.
Initially, Arthur put his degree in Artificial Intelligence to use at GM, Chrysler & Hughes, but he soon realized he was committed to bringing intelligence to social architectures rather than to computers. He started student-run schools and award-winning, employee-run businesses and discovered that the self-managing feedback loops needed to operate these types of organizations were built on particular patterns of incentives and measurement.

Prior to Yodlee, Eric led International Strategy for one of Oracle‘s application product lines, where his team established the roadmap, investment levels, and priorities necessary to meet the application needs of international customers. He also held roles at PeopleSoft and as Product Manager for Campbell Software, a 50-person enterprise software company that was later acquired by SAP. He began his career as a business software consultant in the IT department at Gap, Inc. Eric has a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School.
Robb Duffield is a Director of Corporate Business Development with SK Telecom Americas focusing on strategic investments, acquisitions, and partnerships in the mobile financial services sector. At SKTA, he’s developed the market strategies result in an investment in Billing Revolution with SKTVC and Mobile Money Ventures via a partnership with Citibank. Robb is currently evaluating opportunities in contactless payment technologies and the underserved market.
Prior to joining SK Telecom Americas, Robb led the business development and marketing roles for Autodesk Location Services, a division of Autodesk. Robb began his career in the mobile business in the early days of US West New Vector Group – a predecessor to AirTouch, then Verizon Wireless. Tricia Duryee, All Things Digital, Senior Editor, eMoney
Tricia Duryee has been covering technology for more than a decade and her whole career has been spent in Seattle, an area rich in software, mobile and e-commerce. From 2008 to 2010, she reported on the wireless industry as the mobile editor at mocoNews.net and paidContent.org, two U.S.-based sites owned by the U.K.’s Guardian News and Media.
Before mocoNews, Duryee spent eight years at the Seattle Times. From 2005 to 2008, she covered the regional wireless industry, including AT&T Wireless, which launched one of the first 3G networks, Microsoft and a handful of other public companies and start-ups. Many of the national and regional carriers based in the Pacific Northwest have been gobbled up with the exception of T-Mobile USA and Clearwire. During her first six years at the newspaper, she primarily reported on the scrappy start-up and venture capital scene and wrote the occasional weekend cop story.

Rod Ebrahimi, ReadyForZero, CEO and Co-Founder
Rod started an ISP2 while he was still in high school. In the late 90′s, at 17, he was lured into the second California gold rush by former Netscape executives. Instead of following his colleagues to Google and other startups, he went back to college for a degree in Cognitive Science and Human Computer Interaction. Prior to ReadyForZero, he was the Product Manager at Membase (the data management layer supporting Zynga), where he led their first product launch. ReadyForZero is a Y Combinator backed company whose angel investors include former PayPal and Mint.com executives.

Betsy Flanagan is a Social Media Strategist at Wells Fargo Bank. Previously she has held positions at Wells Fargo in Online Sales and Marketing, Investor Relations and Internet Strategy. Outside of Wells Fargo, Betsy founded Startup Studio, a podcast featuring her interviews with some of the world’s most innovative entrepreneurs, including the founders of Southwest Airlines, Meebo, Feedburner, and ZipRealty, among others. Aaron brings more than 10 years of product development and product management experience to the Intuit Personal Finance Group. He was one of the foundational employees at Mint.com, serving as the company’s vice president of product. Prior to joining Mint.com, Aaron held several leadership positions at eBay and Half.com (acquired by eBay Inc.). Most recently, as Director of Advertising, Aaron was responsible for product strategy, design and productdevelopment. Lewis Gersh, Metamorphic Ventures, Managing Partner
Lewis Gersh is a Managing Partner at Metamorphic Ventures which invests in seed and early stage B2B digital media and digital commerce technology companies. The fund invests across the US and Canada.
Prior to Metamorphic, Lewis founded Worldly Information Network, which created and provided investment information to both the retail and institutional markets. The company was sold in 2002.
Lewis graduated from San Diego State University and earned his JD and Masters in Intellectual Property from UNH School of Law. Lewis is a member of the NY Bar Association, a Trustee at UNH Law and serves on many corporate boards.
Ryan Gilbert, BillFloat, CEO
Ryan Gilbert is CEO of BillFloat, an early stage payments company backed PayPal and Venrock. Ryan was previously Vice President of MoneyGram International’s PropertyBridge division, following MoneyGram’s acquisition of PropertyBridge in October 2007. Ryan was PropertyBridge’s CEO and co-founder. He is an active investor and advisor to innovative early stage payments companies including Eventbrite and Square. Ryan is a member of the State Bar of California, and is also admitted to practice law in the United Kingdom and South Africa. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Martin Giles is the San Francisco-based US Technology Correspondent of The Economist Newspaper. Martin has held various jobs on the editorial side of The Economist, including European Business Correspondent based in Paris, Management Correspondent in New York and Finance Editor in London. He also spent several years on the business side of The Economist Group, where he ran the company’s US operations and its new business development team. Martin is a graduate of Oxford University and holds an executive MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business. He sits on the advisory board of the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London and is a trustee of a charity that supports people who wish to become financial journalists.
Scott Guilfoyle, PayPal, CTO and Senior Vice President, Platform Services
As senior vice president of platform services, Scott Guilfoyle leads PayPal’s platform operations, product development, information security, corporate information technology and corporate architecture. Together with his teams in North America, Europe and Asia, Guilfoyle is responsible for providing a world class payments platform, technology infrastructure and operations for PayPal’s millions of accounts around the world.
Prior to joining PayPal, he was the chief information officer (CIO) for Interactive Corporation‘s financial services and real estate division, overseeing sites including LendingTree, GetSmart, HomeLoanCenter and Realestate.com. Guilfoyle also served as CIO for Bank of America Card Services. He began his career at GE, holding key technology leadership positions including CIO of GE Plastics, Americas and GE Engine Services.
Guilfoyle received a bachelor’s of business administration from Wilmington College in Ohio. He is also a graduate of GE Management Development, GE Global Business Development and is a certified six sigma Black Belt.
Sean is the co-founder and CEO of FeeFighters – a comparison shopping website for business financial services (formerly known as TransFS). Prior to starting FeeFighters, Sean worked as a venture capitalist at Longworth Venture Partners and William Blair Capital Partners and as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Sean holds an A.B. in economics from the University of Chicago, where he also studied computer science and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Kevin Hartz is Co-Founder & CEO of Eventbrite, a company changing the way events come together online, and happen offline. Kevin was previously Co-Founder and CEO of Xoom Corporation, an international money transfer company, servicing more than 40 countries worldwide. Xoom is backed by Sequoia Capital, NEA, Fidelity Ventures, Stanford University, and Peter Thiel.
Kevin began his career as a product manager and later co-founded ConnectGroup, a start-up providing high-speed Internet access to the hotel industry. ConnectGroup was acquired by Lodgenet (NASDAQ: LNET). Kevin holds a BA and BS from Stanford University, as well as an MA from Oxford University (University College).
He has been an active early stage investor and advisor to start-ups including PayPal, Geni, Friendster, TripIt, Flixster, Adnectar, Yammer, TokBox, iControl, Boku, Lookout, Anonymizer, Palantir and Trulia, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Xoom, Lookout, TownHog, and TokBox (observer). In his spare time, Kevin advises university students on entrepreneurship through Youniversity Ventures. Kevin lives in San Francisco with his wife, Julia, and young daughter.
Christin Herron, Intel Capital, Director
Previously, Christine was a Principal with First Round Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm, where she worked with companies such as BillFloat, Double Verify, Get Satisfaction, Mint, and Xobni. As a Director at Omidyar Network, she developed the Media practice strategy and drove $15 million in early-stage placements.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network in 2005, Christine was the VP of Marketing for Mission Research, which develops small business CRM solutions. While there, she led marketing from initial business plan authoring through paying customer and distribution partner acquisition. Earlier, Christine was the founder and CEO of Mercury2, a software-as-a-service developer of international trade logistics systems. She also managed developer tools at NetObjects, and played for the Internet Server Team at Microsoft.
Christine started as an investor with Geocapital Partners, where she focused on early Internet infrastructure and network management software. She earned her MBA at Stanford University, and her BA in English at Columbia University, Columbia College.
Arno Hesse, Clearbon, Co-Founder
Arno Hesse is co-founder of Clearbon, a solution for local businesses and community banks to create their own rewards networks. Clearbon has piloted Bernal Bucks, rewarding customers for shopping local and directing funds into neighborhood causes.
Until 2009, Arno was Executive Vice President for Retail Products and Marketing at Union Bank (now owned by Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ) where he led Product Management, Customer Experience Management, and Marketing. Over the past 20 years, he has executed market strategies with a special focus on changing organizational cultures, as culture tends to eat strategy for breakfast. He has worked on strategy and customer engagement initiatives with technology ventures and financial institutions like Wells Fargo, Commerzbank, Fireman’s Fund, Wachovia.
As a founding member of Slow Money, Arno works on directing investments into local food systems. He is also easily distracted by typography details.
Ron brings over fourteen years experience in product and general management in the consumer Internet space to the BOKU team. Most recently, Ron served as VP of Product at AT&T Interactive, which he joined through the acquisition of service marketplace and performance advertising company Ingenio. Ron spent 6 years at Ingenio, where he served as VP of Product Management. Prior to Ingenio, Ron was co-founder and CEO of The Digs Network, an early social network focused on Gen Y, which was bought by iDrive. He started his career as a Management Consultant for Price Waterhouse focused on technology integrations. In addition to his role at BOKU, Ron served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Khosla Ventures and actively advises several companies in the consumer Internet space.
Allen Howell, Social Flights, Co-Founder and Chairman
Mr. Howell is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Social Flights, LLC (www.socialflights.com) Social Flights aggregates private jets across the US and matches them to the social graph, events, and affinity travel tribes for a door-to-door value proposition comparable to commercial airlines.
Allen is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Corporate Flight Management, Inc. (www.flycfm.com); a 28 year old general aviation company based in Nashville TN and one of the largest operators of business aircraft in the Southeastern US with 31 aircraft and 200 employees. CFM has worked with companies worldwide with consulting and technical support of small airline and charter startups in 28 countries.

I am a Venture Partner with SoftTech VC and the CEO and Co-Founder of Bionic Panda Games, a mobile games company based in San Francisco, CA. Until February 2010, I was the VP of Business Development for Serious Business, a leading producer of social games. Zynga acquired Serious Business in February of 2010.
I founded Third Power LLC, a conference and events company that was acquired by WebMediaBrands (NASDAQ:WEBM) in late 2009. I continue to produce events on their behalf, including the Virtual Goods Summit, Social Gaming Summit, Freemium Summit, and Smartphone Games Summit.
Maha Ibrahim invests in innovative cloud, mobile, and digital media companies with the potential to become global market leaders. Maha is known in the venture industry for her ability to spot technology trends early, foster growth at her portfolio companies through hands-on operational guidance, and achieve profitable exits for entrepreneurs and investors.
Maha joined Canaan’s Menlo Park office in March 2000. Jessica Jackley, ProFounder, CEO & Founder
Jessica is Cofounder and CEO of ProFounder, a platform providing new ways for small business entrepreneurs in the U.S. to access start-up capital through crowdfunding and community involvement. Prior to ProFounder, Jessica was a Cofounder and Chief Marketing Officer of Kiva, the world’s first p2p microlending website. Vincent Kadar, CEO of Telepin Software, has more than 16 years of executive experience in software technology companies for wireless and telecom networks. Prior to his role with Telepn, Vincent was founder and CTO at Airwide Solutions, a leading provider of mobile messaging infrastructure.
